Her father, Paul, had left her in charge of his shop until dinnertime, where he would take over once more. There were only a few passerbies who peeked through the display glass and, with mouthwatering sighs, they gave in to buy several sweets. She had whipped up a batch of fudge brownies—a recipe her grandmother had passed down directly to her—and after cutting them into small squares, she set them on the display only to hear a very familiar, husky voice ask, "Can I have one of those?" Jumping, Annie held her heart and gasped. When she looked up to see Jimmy Dawson, she rolled her eyes and shot out, "What are you doing here?" He tapped his fingers against the display glass, a smile curled on his lips. "I sort of followed you here . . . and waited until the shop was empty to have a chance to talk to you," he explained, looking around the shop. "Cool place," he commented. "It's my dad's," she found herself clarifying. He nodded, his eyes slowly trailing down to the fresh brownies she had prepared. "I wasn't joking, I would really like one of those." Annie could feel her lips tugging into a smile, but stopped herself by chewing on her bottom lip. Using a piece of wax paper ... eye am obsessed with nick jonas woo! |
